Discover the world’s most crowded regatta! The start is on 8th October at 10.30 am between the Barcola Embankment and Miramare Castle, the finish line will be placed off Trieste’s beautiful Piazza Unità d’Italia. You just can’t miss it! With more than 25,000 sailors, 300,000 spectators and 2,000 sailboats, the Barcolana in Trieste is one of the international sailing circuit’s premier events. From 29th September a rich programme of events on land and at sea, like a festival along the Trieste seafront, numerous sea events leading up to the regatta, the "signore del mare" (historic wooden boats) and monotype regattas, and ends on Sunday with the spectacular sight of thousands of boats sailing on the Gulf of Trieste! Trieste sits nestled into its namesake gulf on the pristine Adriatic Sea, pretty much isolatd from the rest of Italy. During Barcolana, the city's sparkling azure coastline is studded with 300,000 cheering spectators both along the seafront and perched above in the karst hills.

Events at sea feature all-time favourites like the open-water swimming competition Barcolana Nuota and the rowing race Barcolana Rema and exciting races like Barcolana Fun for Stand-up paddle boarding (SUP), Canoa Polo and Moths. Events on land live up to the same level of entertainment with the third edition of “Notte Blu” in Trieste’s theatres and with the second edition of Barcolana in Città, aiming to involve local businesses and institutions in a rich calendar of events in the city centre, all revolving around the theme of the sea.
