Description
Carmen, the masterpiece of Georges Bizet, will open, on Friday 22 June at 9 pm, the Opera Festival of 2018, with a new production by the famous Argentinian director Hugo de Ana, in charge of the direction, scenery and costumes.
De Ana sets her Carmen in the '30s, an important historical period to underline the incessant search of the protagonist for his independence and freedom, which will lead her to face, until her death, male arrogance and a society hostile to the fact that she is a gypsy and therefore different.
Afterwards, in the following weeks, other shows will occupy the stage of the Verona Opera Festival, including Aida, Turandot, Nabucco and other famous operas. The Festival will end after the Aida show on September 1st.Info
